Facebook and dating:Sad but True

There are a couple girls that I've always really liked (or at least thought I did) throughout the years and I never got to date them. There are two or three I'm thinking about specifically.  I find myself intentionally avoiding their Facebook pages because I would rather just ignore the fact that they exist instead of wondering what might have been. It's easy to forget about them until once in a blue moon their names will pop up on my feed when i log in (push glasses up on bridge of nose). I will give her page a glance.

This happens roughly every 6 months or so. I find myself looking at her page with my fingers crossed that she has gained weight and/or dates a meth addict, just so I can say, "well it looks like things worked out in the end." I know that is selfish, but it makes me feel better.

In a way thats like a modern take on getting all dressed up for your 10 or 20 year high school reunion. You want to look your best so you can quietly say 'fuck you' to everyone who never took you seriously or gave you a chance. Facebook is kind of an ongoing highschool/college reunion that allows you to keep tabs on the people you love(d) and the people you hate (still). They say living well is the best revenge and FB accelerates that bitter lump in your throat at the speed of now.

Speaking of which...

I don't know if it has always been this way or if this is a new phenomena born from the real time internet tab keeping craze but I've noticed that a lot of people (girls) are so concerned about what goes up on their FB wall because, "my X might see it."

Your former boyfriend?

So many times I've written some offhand open ended comment on someone's (a girls)  picture/wall/whatever and these people (girls) will instantly call me or send me a message telling me to delete what I just said because their X (pussy boyfriend)  will see it and get upset. YOU BROKE UP!  I see so many people arguing with their X's on the phone like they're still together and it blows my mind every time.

You guys are split up right?
right.
And you can date other people?
Yea, totally. I hate his guts.
So, why do you care and more importantly, why are you fighting?
My X saw this comment that my XX boyfriend made and now he's freaking out. He gets so jealous.
(My kneecaps/eyes explode)

If you're reading this and you don't see how retarded that is, you are that idiot. Move on or get married. Either way you are and will always be miserable. I understand that just because you broke up with someone, you dont have to hate them. I understand that you can still care about their feelings. But if you broke up 6 months ago with no intention of getting back together, you need to stop thinking like you would if you were still together.  The best  is when she talks about how much she hates his guts but how she can't leave this picture or that picture of her drunk at a bar on FB because her X 3,000 miles away will call her crying the next morning. When did guys completely surrender their balls and when did that become attractive enough to date, then break up with, then still care about? You know who you are and im talking to you directly. Yes you.

Ive also noticed that over the years Ive lost friends who are girls on FB,  but only when they get into relationships. It takes me a while to notice, but ill go to look at some girl's page that Ive been friends with for years and now, all of the sudden we are no longer friends. This has happened a number of times and I never get it. Ill ask why and their answer is always "my boyfriend made me un-friend you. We got into this huge fight and I just did it to make him stop." Any time this has happened, it wasn't with a girl I had dated. She got in trouble just for knowing me haha. I guess thats kind of awesome.

In conclusion, Facebook makes people act insane, especially couples. It can be a great tool for single people to meet and build relationships without really knowing each other. It can be a great ice breaker for first dates or just for meeting the hot friend of your less attractive mutual friends. I know this post is lacking my usual content about nothing but it needed to be said. You understand.
